Engineering Services Specialist

The American Public Power Association, a not-for-profit electric utility trade association, is seeking an Engineering Services Specialist. The successful candidate will: provide technical assistance on issues of electrical transmission and distribution systems and energy technologies, including assessment of new technologies; provide technical assistance to APPA’s Demonstration of Energy-Efficient Developments program (DEED); assist in the transmitting of information to APPA members in the areas of: electric utility operations, utility industry standards, safety rules and regulations (including APPA’s Safety Manual), and the DEED program.

Ideal candidate should have a degree from a 4-year college or university in science or engineering. (B.S. in electrical engineering preferred). Candidate should have electric utility industry experience or demonstrate the ability to learn it quickly. Position requires excellent writing and research skills; ability to communicate ideas and promote public power positions effectively.
