The three final candidates for the Southern Illinois University Carbondale dean of the College of Engineering have now visited the campus.

Darrell Pepper, NV B ’68, was the last to visit the campus. He is currently professor and director of the Nevada Center for Advanced Computational Methods in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Nevada Las Vegas.

The two other candidates are Alexander Cheng, professor and chair of the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Mississippi, and William Worek, IL B ’75, head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and director of the Energy Resources Center at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Lastly, Jon C. Strauss, MA A ’59, will serve as interim dean of Texas Tech’s College of Engineering. He will begin this position June 15 and serve in this roll until a permanent replacement can be found. Read press release
