The first major milestone of the EcoCAR: The NeXt Challenge competition was completed this past week in Toronto, Canada.
The Ohio State University (team) took first place out of 17 universities in the U.S. and Canada. The basis for the competition is for university engineering students to re-engineer a 2009 Saturn VUE to improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions while retaining the vehicle’s performance and consumer appeal.

Led by faculty co-advisor, Giorgio Rizzoni, MI G ’81, the team was awarded seven other individual and team awards. Third place overall went to the team from Mississippi State University.
