A new finding from the Multiple-Institution Database for Investigating Engineering Development shows that women are as persistent as men with regards to dropping out of undergraduate engineering programs.

The resource is managed by Dr. Matthew W. Ohland, FL A ’96, and the latest findings from nine institutions in the southeastern United States, over a 17-year period, are to be published in a future issue of the Journal of Women and Minorities in Science and Engineering.

As a result, Ohland suggests more efforts should be made in recruiting women into engineering, as opposed to trying to retain them. Read article for more information
