A new “Smart Cane” has been developed by Dr. Kumar Yelamarthi (OH M ’04), and five students, at Central Michigan University.

The University of Alaska’s Alaska Native in Science and Engineering Program (ANSEP) continues to support students from remote villages to excel in university technical and scientific programs.

Today, there are more than 200 undergraduates enrolled at the university of Anchorage and Fairbanks campuses and the program is working with 60 high schools around the state to help more kids get ready for college.

ANSEP reports a 70 percent “retention” rate, explained as meaning 70 percent of ANSEP’s students who enter college as freshmen complete their four or five-year academic programs. This compares to the national average of approximately 50 percent for all ethnic engineering groups. Read more about ANSEP

Recent Tau Beta Pi graduate, Allen Kathir, MN A ’06, is running for the city of Minneapolis’ City Council.
