In a recent interview, Arden L. Bement Jr., CO A ’54, Director of the National Science Foundation (NSF), commended South Carolina’s research universities for making contributions in energy and other fields.
Earlier Bement spoke at Clemson University’s Convocation, telling faculty and staff:
“Development of green alternatives to gasoline are promising, but it may take a decade before green gasoline arrives at the pump.
If we in the U.S. do not change our research paradigm to a more holistic one then others may well pass us by.”
After the speech, dean of Clemson’s College of Engineering and Science, Esin Gulari (MI E ’73), reiterated her belief that Clemson is working toward finding “sustainable solutions to the nation’s problems.” Read article for more information
