In a recent article written by FISA & Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA) chair and professor at University of Pittsburgh, Rory A. Cooper (CA M ’84), he describes the rapid advancement of robotic prototyping for those with severe mobility challenges.

The article details the need for wheelchairs, about 50 million individual in the world use or could benefit from using a wheelchair. With the use of robotics and rapid prototyping, models can be made by engineers quicker and lead to better design processes to offer “people with disabilities more opportunities to participate in the scientific process.” Read the full article

Coshocton County Engineer Frederick Wachtel, OH G ’78, accepted an award on behalf of Coshocton County and his staff for the recreation of an early 1900s stone arch bridge in Tiverton Township (OH).

The award was presented by ODOT, the Federal Highway Administration, and the Ohio Historic Preservation Office.
