Successful results after the first-year of research lead officials at Mississippi State University’s Center for Advanced Vehicular Systems (CAVS) to believe that expansion of a partnership with the U.S. army to improve the battlefield effectiveness of ground vehicles is likely.
CAVS director, Roger King (MS A ’73), describes the program as addressing different issues related to ground vehicles’ performance and safety. He foresees the possibilty of addind additional partners to the consortium.
Matt Castanier, MI G ’89,of The University of Michigan, is a research colleague of King and a member of the TARDEC research facility in Michigan and is eager to see the project continue.

Manhattan College senior, Courtney McMahon (NY X 2010), has been selected as one of 30 Division I women’s soccer seniors as a candidate for the 2009 Lowe’s Senior CLASS award.
The award “focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impression as leaders in their communities.”

Last season, McMahon was selected to the ESPN The Magazine All-America Academic Team, she was inducted into Manhattan’s prestigious Pen & Sword Society, and maintained her impressive 3.8 GPA in civil engineering. Read more

As adviser to the Hydrogen Club at Oregon State University, Roger Ely, OR A ’78, is looking towards the sun to develop new technology to match the anticipated increase in demand for energy.
