The Oklahoma State University-Oklahoma City is reporting a student population growth for the fall semester.
To accommodate the growth, the university is adding 110 class sections to its fall schedule. The science and engineering division had a 43 percent increase in enrollment from the fall 2008. Read more

Professors at Virginia Tech and Emory and Henry College have invented a process for filling fullerenes with radioactive material.

The two chemistry professors have developed a way to create “new materials by filling them with atoms of various metals.” A direct application of this research would be for “MRI applications and as diagnostic and therapeutic agents for brain tumors.”

Engineers at Spirit AeroSystems, Kansas, turned down a second company proposed contract and voted to strike if necessary.
The union leaders for the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace are helping the engineers work with a mediator and AeroSystems’ administration.
The recent vote does not mean the engineers will go on strike yet, as there would need to be another vote to approve an actual workers’ strike. Read article
