Pilot Kevin Ford, IN G ’82, helped dock more than seven tons of cargo to the International Space Station Saturday.

The space shuttle Discovery finally launched Friday after several weather-related delays. Discovery docked with the Space Station late Saturday night and plans for the 13-day STS-128 mission will continue. Read more at NASA

Richard Gaster, PA D ’06, and Drew Hall, NV B ’05, received the IEEE Student Humanitarian Supreme Prize for their “lab-on-a-stick.”

The NanoLab: A Hand-Held Diagnostic Laboratory is designed to offer third world countries access to medical diagnostic laboratories. The device is capable of quantitative multiplex protein detection, is simple to use, and more cost-efficient for illness diagnosing.

The two are doctoral students at Stanford. Read more
