Tufts University announced a $40 million gift from inventor, CEO of Analogic Corporation, Bernard Gordon (MA B ’48), toward the creation of a new engineering leadership minor and other engineering related programs.

Gordon is known as the “father of analog-to-digital conversion” for his invention of the high-speed analog-to-digital converter. Tufts President Lawrence Bacow called Gordon “one of the engineering giants of the 20th century.” Read news release

Tau Beta Pi would like to honor the memory of Francis Rogallo, (01/27/1912 – 09/01/2009).

With his wife Gertrude, Rogallo, CA G ’33, invented the Rogallo wing, the first flexible-wing to allow for nonpowered flight. His invention lead to modern day hang gliding, paragliding, ultralight flight, and more.

The Rogallos released their patent on wing design to the U.S. government for “public good” and never profited from the wing’s design. Read more about Francis M. Rogallo

Chiral Photonics, Inc. has announced the appointment of Dr. Stan Lumish, NY O ’78, to its board of directors.

Dr. Lumish is currently president of Lumish Technology Consulting, LLC, and former CTO at JDS Uniphase Corporation.
