Technology Review, published by MIT, highlighted a company’s development of a process that converts garbage into fuel.

According to James D. McMillan (CO D ’82), the biochemical process R&D group manager at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, this is significant because the process used by the company, Terrabon, is “relatively easy to scale up for producing millions of gallons of fuel.”

The process combines the two prominent methods for biofuel companies into one process and converts the biomass into carboxylic acids. Read article

Stevens Institute of Technology, home of the New Jersey Alpha chapter of Tau Beta Pi, is highlighting recent graduates updating their lives after graduation.

This month two Tau Beta Pi members were profiled:
Sara James (NJ A 2009) and Lubna (Janjua) Perez (NJ A 2000).

James just recently began working for MIT Lincoln Laboratories, a position she calls her “dream job.” Read full news release

Perez earned a B.E. in Engineering Management and her M.S. in Technology Management. She currently works for Cadbury plc as a project manager in customer investing and planning.

Cheryl Horn, GA B 2002, is a Tau Beta Pi member who has chosen to use her engineer training to work at a position close to her heart.

She was recently profiled in the Chattanooga Time Free Press because she is the new volunteer coordinator at the Humane Educational Society of Chattanooga, TN.

Her focus is matching people with pets to spend time with the animals as they await permanent adoption.
