The University of Wyoming has announced the 2009 Distinguished Alumni Awards.
One of the three graduates to be recognized is former engineer and land surveyor, J. Kenneth Kennedy. He is also a recipient of the 1985 UW College of Engineering Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society’s Eminent Engineer award.
One of Kennedy’s sons, who took over his engineering company, Daniel Kennedy (CO D ’77) is a Tau Bate.

President Anthony Topazi, AL A ’73, of Mississippi Power Co. has announced the company’s plans to build a lignite plant in Mississippi by 2014.
The technology at the plant would create electricity through IGCC, or Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle, that converts soft coal into a gas to fuel turbines. Read full article

A memorandum of understanding between The Boeing Company and Russian Space Corporation Energia has been reached “to work together on a future common docking system for advanced space exploration vehicles.”
Former astronaut Brewster H. Shaw, WI A ’67, and current vice president and general manager of Boeing’s Space Exploration division said, “Future space exploration will provide opportunities for more international collaboration.”
