At the University; Engineering FYI

The inaugural group of fellows at the Renewable and Sustainable Energy Institute (RASEI) has been announced.

RASEI is a joint institute between the University of Colorado at Boulder and the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in Golden, CO.

Five of the RASEI fellows are Tau Bates:

Researchers from Johns Hopkins University, Texas A&M, and Korea University, have developed a way to “accurately predict power outages in advance of a hurricane.”

Seth Guikema, NY D ’97, and two other researchers used data from five previous hurricanes to develop a computer model that would provide accurate estimates of power outages across a region threatened by an approaching hurricane.
