Tau Beta Pi would like to congratulate Bucknell University as it celebrates 100 years of chemical engineering.
The class of 2010 represents the program’s 100th. Bucknell is also home to Tau Beta Pi’s Pennsylvania Eta Chapter.
Professor of chemical engineering and chair of the department, Dr. Jeffrey Csernica (PA A ’84), commented that “we’re proud to be part of a program that has been in existence since the early days of the discipline itself.”

Five engineering seniors have been honored by the Dwight Look College of Engineering at Texas A&M University with the Craig C. Brown Outstanding Senior Engineer Award.

All five honorees are members of the Texas Delta Chapter of Tau Beta Pi. The awards for academic achievement, character, and leadership abilities, were presented by Dr. G. Kemble Bennett (FL G ’62), vice chancellor and dean of engineering. The students are:

Rodrigo Garza Urquiza, Rachel Oyler, Alexandra Iacob, Colin Bailie, Mark Deimund

Toni Whitfield, IL E 2010, has been named this year’s student laureate at the Lincoln Academy of Illinois.
One distinguished senior is chosen from each of the four-year colleges and universities in Illinois. Whitfield is a civil engineering major, member of the track and field and cross-country teams, and a 2009 Tau Beta Pi scholar.
Ms. Whitfield was recommended for the honor by professor Lizette Chevalier, MI E ’88, who had this to say,
“Faculty, staff, and students all respect her academic achievements and recognize Toni as a role model, a classroom leader, and a resource for teaching and learning.”
