At this year’s 104th Tau Beta Pi Convention, two university engineering college’s were awarded charters to establish Tau Beta Pi chapters.

An article in Technology Review, published by MIT, highlighted recent research on “stealthy nanoparticles” capable of diminishing side effects of chemotherapy while increasing the effectiveness of its cancer killing.

A new comapny, BIND Biosciences, is making drug-embedded nanostructures and working on its “nanoparticle-based delivery system in preparation for clinical trials in cancer patients next year.”

Harris Corporation, based in Melbourne (FL), has announced a gift to the University of Florida’s College of Engineering.

Money from the gift will go towards establishing “an endowment funding research in areas such as mobile communications and health care-related technology.”

UF will also use the funds to renovate the third floor of its Computer Science Engineering building. Read press release
