Later this month at the 2009 ABET Annual Awards, George D. Peterson, Ph.D., P.E., (OH H ’72) will receive the Linton E. Grinter Distinguished Service Award.

The award is ABET‘s highest honor and will be awarded to Peterson for being “a pioneer in engineering and technology education.” He served as ABET’s Executive Director for more than 15 years. Read news release

In a follow-up, Allen Kathir, MN A 2006, ran for the Ward 3 city council position in Minneapolis, MN.
He was running against and lost to incumbent Diane Hofstede. According to the Star Tribune, Kathir received 48% of “second choice votes.” Read article about election results

The Catholic University of America announced in their fall 2009 newsletter, that Binh Q. Tran (DC B ’98) has been appointed as the new assistant dean of the School of Engineering.
According to the article, Tran has been instrumental in successful efforts to form an “agreement with Anne Arundel Community College and collaboration with the Food and Drug Administration.”
