In a follow-up to a previously highlighted event, engineering students from Northeastern University (Massachusetts Epsilon) took top prize at the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) eleventh annual Chem-E-Car Competition.
The team of ten students was led by faculty advisor Katherine Ziemer, MA E ’89. The winning vehicle, the Aluminator, “used aluminum foil and sodium hydroxide, and its onboard water supply, to produce its hydrogen fuel.”

The team’s captain, Patrick McMahon, MA E 2010, had this to say about the vehicle’s technology, “While the car is small, it shows that this technology could possibly be a viable option for automobiles in the future.”

To summarize the business of this year’s 104th Convention in East Brunswick, New Jersey, Tau Beta Pi has published the December 2009 issue of The Bulletin.

Rowan University senior Allison Daniello, NJ E 2010, has been awarded the Jerry Kilby Memorial Scholarship by the Professional Engineering Society of Southern New Jersey (PESSNJ).
PESSNJ recognized Daniello for “her ability to consistently excel in professional society engagement, pursuit of licensure as a professional engineer, promoting professionalism in everyday conduct, academic performance, environmental stewardship, and service.”
