This week the Commerce Department’s National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) announced that it has awarded 64 staff members with the Departmental Bronze Medal. Read press release

At the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, the Minnesota Alpha Chapter of Tau Beta Pi is sponsoring its annual Kits for Kids program.

The program collects toys and raises money “to purchase science and engineering-related toys for the Marine Corps’ Toys for Tots campaign.”

This is the fourth year that students, faculty, and staff have participated in giving toys to help “motivate children to discover the fun of science and engineering.”

As part of the 2010 NASA Moon Work challenge, NASA has announced that it is “offering paid internships to engineering students who have ideas on how future explorers might live on the moon.”

The internships will be awarded as part of a contest. Students must design tools and instruments to help astronauts live and work on the moon.

Students must submit their intent to enter the contest by December 15 and final entry deadlines are due by May 15. Read article for more
