The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is announcing its scholarship opportunities for students in 2010.
There are undergraduate scholarships available: Educational Partnership Program and the Ernest F. Hollings Undergraduate Scholarship Program. There are also graduate scholarships available.
To be eligible students must be a U.S. citizen, have a 3.0 GPA, and be studying a NOAA science. Click here, for information on another scholarship opportunity

A recent article in the Bozeman Daily Chronicle highlighted the Engineering Design Fair at Montana State University.
The biannual fair gives engineering students at MSU “the chance to show the public the solutions they came up with for a wide array of problems.”
Rob Maher (MO G ’84), head of MSU’s electrical engineering department, discusses the benefits of the “real world” world work done by engineering students.
“A lot of them came up with some ingenious ideas. Many, we’re hoping, will consider starting a company, or put a patent on (their ideas).” Read full article

On the front page of the December 11, 2009, issue of The Chronicle of Higher Education, Mary Kathryn Thompson, MA B ’02, is profiled for her decision to teach engineering in Korea.

Thompson received her Ph.D. at MIT, but decided to take advantage of the opportunity to teach the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (Kaist) after graduation.
She is something of a “novelty” in Korea and speaks on radio shows about women in engineering and even writes a column for The Korea Herald. Read article
