A follow-up reminder about the 2010 Black Engineer of the Year Awards Stem Global Competitive Conference (BEYA) scheduled for February 18-20 in Baltimore, MD.
Cheryl H. Jaffe, MA Z ’91, will be presenting her workshop “Fun with Fractions” at BEYA this year on Feb. 19. Last year, Jaffe conducted “The Basketball of Radar” seminar. She has also recently joined the efforts of Tau Beta Pi’s MindSET Program.

The STEM Summit 2010 will take place February 18-19 at the University of California, Irvine. The Summit aims to bring “together national leaders to explore innovative approaches and research in STEM education.
This year’s event is hosted by the National Academy of Engineering. The agenda includes for this year’s event includes speakers and presenters involved in “research, policy making, funding, and more.”

Dr. Rafael Bras, MA B ’72, currently Distinguished Professor and Dean, Civil and Environmental Engineering at UC Irvine.
Dr. Linda Katehi, IL A ’77, currently Chancellor at the University of California at Davis.
J. Michael McCarthy, Ph.D., CA O ’74, currently professor at UC Irvine.
Henry Samueli, Ph.D., CA E ’75, is Co-Founder and CTO of Broadcom Corporation.
