After 12 years as President to the University of Maryland, Dr. C. D. Mote, Jr., CA A ’59, will retire and return to the university’s A. James Clark School of Engineering as the Glenn L. Martin Institute Professor of Engineering.

As a result, the university has emerged as one of the nation’s … premier research universities. The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) has announced the 2010 class of Fellows. There were ten ASME fellows named in 2010 and four are Tau Beta Pi members. See full list with brief bios

Dr. John R. Luchini, P.E., (MI G ’71), was one of the fellows. He was recognized for his research, leadership, and volunteer work as a key contributor to the Engineering Futures Program with Tau Beta Pi.

An assistant professor at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee recently published research regarding a new software program that “can not only predict types of specialized cells a stem cell will produce, but also foresee the outcome before the stem cell even divides.”
