Update: National Engineers Week 2010

Today, is “Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day 2010.” According to the National Engineers Week Foundation, it is the rallying point of a movement supported by organizations, schools, and professionals.

As part of Engineers Week (February 14-20), the “New Faces of Engineering for 2010” have also been announced.

This year 13 young engineers were highlighted for their “interesting and unique work.”

There are activities being held across the United States this week in conjunction with Engineers Week 2010.

In South Carolina, Clemson University hosted more than 100 elementary students that participated in “learning exercises from stargazing to understanding artificial knee and hip replacement technology.”

Dr. Mary Beth Kurz, AZ A ’95, professor at Clemson, talked about the event, “Our goal is to encourage students to like math and science. If they begin to understand the importance of math, then they will be ready to study engineering in the future.” Read article
