Thomas R. Voss, MO B ’69, has been named Engineer of the Year by the Missouri Society of Professional Engineers.

Voss is currently President and CEO of Ameren Corporation. He has also been elected as president and CEO of AmerenUE, Missouri’s largest electric utility.

Four other engineers were recognized as Outstanding Professional Engineers by the Missouri Society, including Paul Friemel, MO A ’66, of Cooper-Bussmann.

The Southern Tier Opportunity Coalition (STOC) has announced its “20 in their Twenties,” outstanding young professionals, ages 20 to 29, for their contributions to the community in the areas of academics, professional achievement, community service, and leadership or personal growth. Read article

The STOC recognized 20 young people in the Binhamton-area (NY) for the third consecutive year.
Two of the winners are Tau Beta Pi members:

Anthony Olenik, NY T 2008, a volunteer firefighter, chief adviser of Binghamton University’s NY Tau Chapter of Tau Beta Pi, and leader of Explorer Post 2010 a Boy Scouts of America affiliated program.

Jianzhuang (Jay) Huang, NY T 2007, electrical engineer at Endicott Interconnect Technologies.

WIBW recently reported that Kansas State University has nominated four students for Barry M. Goldwater Scholarships in 2010. Two of the four nominees are student members of Tau Beta Pi:

Emily Tummons, KS G 2011, junior in biological systems engineering

Andrew Satterlee, KS G 2011, senior in chemical engineering
