In the News: Opportunities & Innovation

Researchers at MIT have published research related to the discovery of a new process of making microelectromechanical device, or MEMS, by stamping them onto a plastic film.

Postdoc Corinne Packard (MA B 2004), of the Research Lab of Electronics and a co-lead on the project, describes the process, “It’s kind of similar to if you have Scotch tape on a piece of paper. If you peel it off slowly, you can delaminate the tape very easily. But if you peel fast, you’ll rip the paper.”

The new manufacturing technique was discovered accidentally during attempts to build an electrical circuit. Read the full article from MIT news
