On the Move, March 2010

Science magazine is reporting that dean of engineering, Subra Suresh, at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology will be the next director of the National Science Foundation (NSF).

Currently, Arden Bement Jr., (CO A ’54) is director of the NSF, however, he is stepping down June 1 “to lead a new global research institute at Purdue University.”

RE2, Inc. has announced the appointment of Douglas Peters, P.E. (PA B ’92) as the new Vice President of Operations.

Most recently, Mr. Peters has been with Applied Research Associates as Division Manager for the New England Division. Read the full press release

On March 16, 1802, Congress “directed the Army to create a new military academy 50 miles up the Hudson from New York City at a location called West Point.”

Wired magazine reports that this date also marks “the second foundation” of the current Corps of Engineers.
