In the upcoming spring issue of THE BENT, Michael L. Peterson, IA A ’89, reflects on 20 years of Tau Beta Pi’s Engineering Futures Program.

The Program, which is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its inception at the 1989 Convention in Colubia, SC, “encourages (members) to take seriously the opportunities to grow your interpersonal and teamwork skills.”

The Tau Beta Pi MindSET Program continues to grow and extend the breadth of its efforts to improve the preparation level of American K-12 students in pursuit of careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM disciplines).

Teach for America has expressed interest in supporting the MindSET Program and is highlighting the new Program in its 2010 “Opportunities in education and social change” flier.

To promote openness and feedback about the MindSET Program, there is now a MindSET Wiki web page.

While this is not the Internet home of the MindSET Program, the Wiki offers users a glimpse at the current MindSET Manual, extensive activity modules for K-12 students, and other useful information related to the goal of increasing the number of students in the K-12 system who successfully complete higher level math and science courses prior to graduation from high school.
