Clemson University announced this week that assistant professor Jule Martin Trenor has received a grant from the National Science Foundation “to study social factors that influence underrepresented students’ decisions to enter engineering fields.” Read the news release
Dr. Trenor’s goal is to diversify students in engineering majors. She is also the president of the Women in Engineering ProActive Network (WEPAN).

Professor Naiqian Zhang of Kansas State University has been selected as a Fulbright Scholar to the Philippines.

Dr. Zhang will spend four months at the University of the Philippines Los Banos, teaching and continuing his research in sensors for precision agriculture. Read the press release

The San Jose Business Journal published an article profiling Laura Haas, an IBM fellow and director of computer science.
The article discusses Haas’ career and education path and also cites two other women in engineering that consider Haas as an influential person in their careers.
Haas is part of the Journal‘s 100 “Women of Influence.”
