Earlier this month, Dr. Donald N. Frey, MI G 1947, passed away at his home in Illinois.

Dr. Frey is credited, with his team, for the original design of the Ford Mustang. He also is the recipient of the 1990 National Medal of Technology for his management of new technologies and research on technology commercialization.

The Boston Globe recently profiled Dr. Ralph de la Torre, NC G ’88.
Dr. de la Torre has been president and chief executive officer at Caritas Christi Health Care since 2008. He is in the process of becoming the chief executive of Caritas, managing hospitals.
De la Torre is an accomplished clinical academician, has served as chief of cardiac surgery at BIDMC, and worked as an engineer for a brief time.

The 26th annual Wayne County Regional Tournament of the Science Olympiad was held this past weekend at the University of Michigan-Dearborn.
The event was co-sponsored by the Michigan Iota Chapter of Tau Beta Pi and the University of Michigan-Dearborn.
Middle school and high school students participated in 57 competitive events with winners advancing to the upcoming state tournament. Read article
