The space shuttle Discovery launched early this morning with the seven-member STS-131 crew on its way to the International Space Station.
Led by Commander Alan Poindexter, GA A ’86, the crew “will deliver a multi-purpose logistics module filled with science racks.”
There will also be three spacewalks on the mission to “replace an ammonia tank assembly” and to retrieve experiment elements. The spacewalks will be conducted by Richard Mastracchio, CT B ’82, and Clayton Anderson.

Tau Beta Pi has learned that Donald William Sting, MI D 1964, died late last month at his home in New Canaan, CT.
Mr. Sting is the founder of Spectra Tech, Inc., inventor or co-inventor several infrared spectroscopy patents, and was a partner and chairman of A2 Technologies.
