Chapter-Related: Awards, Leaders, & Recognition, April 2010

The Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Program has announced the 2010 Barry M. Goldwater Scholars.

This year there were 278 Scholars, “selected on the basis of academic merit,” from a field of over 1,000 applicants. Thirty-three of the students are currently Tau Beta Pi members and ten are eligible for membership this spring.

ABET has announced the election of the ABET Board of Directors for 2010-2011.

Larry A. Kaye, Ph.D., P.E., (NY E ’68) has been elected as the 2010-2011 President-Elect. Dr. Kaye “has been involved with engineering accreditation for more than 25 years.

Bassem F. Armaly, Ph.D., (IA A ’63) has been elected to his second year as ABET Treasurer.

Also, current ABET President David K. Holger, Ph.D., (MN A ’70) will become ABET Past President after March 27, 2010.

Iowa State University’s Department of Aerospace Engineering has announced that it will induct three alumni into its Hall of Distinguished Alumni later this month.

Roger S. Hanson, IA A 1953, is one of three alumni selected for his professional and academic contributions to the field of aerospace engineering.
