The Daily Camera is reporting that the University of Colorado will receive federal stimulus funds “to launch a new program educating students in smart grid technology.”
The energy industry is in support of the national smart grid training programs being funded across the country. CU will now offer a master’s degree in smart grid technologies.

Senior Krista Kalac, NY S 2010, has been selected to receive the Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence in May of this year.
Kalac will graduate with a bachelor of science degree in materials science and a bachelor of arts degree in mathematics. She is only the fourth Alfred University student to qualify for membership in both the Tau Beta Pi and Phi Betta Kappa honor societies.

Michigan State University has been chosen by the National Science Foundation (NSF) to “lead the effort, called the International Network of Research on Coupled Human and Natural Systems, or CHANS-Net.
NSF has given MSU a five-year grant to among other things, build “a global database of scholars and their projects, fostering collaboration, helping identify and train new talent, and raising awareness.”
