The student newspaper of the Colorado School of Mines, The Oredigger Newspaper, recently highlighted the Colorado Alpha Chapter of Tau Beta Pi for their historic spring initiation.
According to the article, Colorado Alpha initiated the largest class, in its history, of new members in late April. The article lists all 61 of the new members, the newly elected officers for 2010-11, and thanks the outgoing class of officers.

The National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Chapaign has announced the speakers for the 2010 NCSA Annual Meeting.
Several of the planned speakers are Tau Beta Pi members, including:
Richard Arthur, NY Q ’89, – manager of the Advanced Computing Laboratory at GE Research.
Robert A. Fiedler, IL A ’85, – computational scientist at NCSA.
Willia Gropp, OH A ’77, – professor and deputy director for research for the Institute of Advanced Computing Applications and Technologies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

The World Science Festival in New York kicks off with an Opening Night Gala Performance on June 2 in the Alice Tully Hall at the Lincoln Center.
The Festival “is an annual tribute to inventiveness which takes science out of the laboratory and into the streets, theaters, museums, and public halls of New York City.”
