The National Academy of Engineering announced the election of a chair, vice president, and four members of its governing Council to new terms beginning in July.
Dr. Irwin M. Jacobs, NY D ’56, was re-elected to a new two-year team as chair. Dr. Jacobs is co-founder, retired chief executive officer and chairman, and current board member of QUALCOMM Inc.
Vice president Maxine L. Savitz was re-elected to a four-year tearm. Linda M. Abriola, PA Z ’76, dean of engineering at Tufts University; Ruth A. David, KS B ’75, president and executive officer of Analytic Services Inc.; Charles Elachi; and Paul Citron, PA Z ’69, retired vice president of technology policy and academic relations at Medtronic, were re-elected to second three-year terms as councillors.

Larry Plaster, TX H ’71, has received the only American Helicopter Society (AHS) Honorary Fellow Award for 2010.
He was recognized during the AHS forum. Plaster is an aerospace engineer and manager of the Apache Modernization Programs at The Boeing Company in Mesa, AZ.

This past weekend at Vanderbilt University’s commencement, Andrew Jallouk, TN B 2010, received a Founder’s medal for being the top scholar from the School of Engineering.
Jallouk graduated with a degree in biomedical engineering and plans to pursue graduate degrees with a focus on biomaterials. Read more
