Bucknell University has named Dr. John C. Bravman, CA G ’79, as the 17th president of the University.

Since 1999, Dr. Bravman has been the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education and dean of Stanford’s Freshman-Sophomore Residential College, which he founded, at Stanford University. He will begin his duties as president of Bucknell, beginning on July 1, 2010.

Dr. Bravman’s wife, Wendelin J Wright, CA G ’98, is “expected to join the Bucknell mechanical engineering faculty.” She is currently a professor at Santa Clara University. Wright and Bravman recently welcomed their first child, Cole Keating Bravman, in early April.

Dr. Frederick C. Berry, LA G ’83, has been appointed as the new vice president of academics at the Milwaukee School of Engineering.

Dr. Berry will start his new position on July 1, 2010. Most recently he has been the head of the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Departent and co-director of Rose Hulman’s Explore Engineering program at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.

Georgia Institute of Technology has announced that Dr. Zvi Galil, NY A ’70, will become the next dean of the College of Computing.

Dr. Galil will assume his new post beginning July 1, 2010. Most recently he has been president of his alma mater, Tel Aviv University in Israel. Dr. Galil also served as a professor and dean of the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Columbia University (1995-2007).
