Student Awards, May 2010

The University of Virginia Engineering School announced the seven Outstanding Student Award winners for the 2010 graduating class. Read news release here

Tau Beta Pi produced a clean sweep, as all seven winners are student members of the Virginia Alpha Chapter.
They are:

Robert Arthur, VA A 2010, engineering science major
Ian Czekala, VA A 2010, an aerospace engineering and astronomy major
Todd Gerarden, VA A 2010, mechanical engineering major
John Griffin, VA A 2010, double majoring in systems engineering and finance
Elizabeth Martin, VA A 2010, graduating with a degree in aerospace engineering
Daniel Quinn, VA A 2010, an aerospace engineering major
Jennifer Wilson, VA A 2010, graduating with a biomedical engineering degree

The University of Cincinnati has announced the four outstanding senior recipients of the Presidential Leadership Medal of Excellence, the most prestigious honor for undergraduates.

Two of the four recipients are Tau Beta Pi members:

Alexzandra J. Spatholt, OH B 2010, is graduating with a degree in biomedical engineering, she is currently the president of the Ohio Beta Chapter and a 2009-10 Tau Beta Pi Scholar, and has already begun working for P&G as a modeling and simulation engineer.

Li Tan, OH B 2010, has earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree in chemical engineering, is currently vice president of the Ohio Beta Chapter and a 2010 Tau Beta Pi Fellow, and plans to pursue his Ph.D. at MIT.

Last weekend, Lamar University celebrated the largest graduating class in Lamar history with 1,500 graduating seniors.

Sixteen of the graduating students were recognized with Plummer Awards, for attaining a perfect 4.0 grade-point average, also a Lamar record. Read full news release
