Michael Baker Jr., Inc., an engineering unit of Michael Baker Corporation has announced the appointment of Bradley J. Heigel, P.E. (PA B ’88), as the new assistant vice president and office principal of the Harrisburg, Pa., office.
Heigel will be “responsible for the day-to-day activities of the office, as well as future business development and client relationships.” Previously, he worked as a program manager for the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission.

Earlier this week a team of engineering students from Oregon State won the Society of Automotive Engineers Collegiate Design Series competition.
The team was a combination of students from Oregon State and Duale Hochschule Baden-Wurrttemburg-Ravensburg, Germany. In all, the team captured 11 awards and became the first FSAE “team to compete with the goal of competing as a single international entity.”

The University at Buffalo has announced that three faculty members “have joined the ranks of distinguished professors (as) appointed by the SUNY Board of Trustees.” One of the professors is a Tau Bate:

Dr. Mark H. Karwan, NY N ’74, is a professor in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. He was recognized for his “outstanding teaching at the graduate, undergraduate, and professional levels.”
