Effective July 1, 2010, the Corporation of Brown University has approved the transformation of the Division of Engineering into the Brown School of Engineering. Read the full news release

According to Brown, the undergraduate engineering program at the University is “the oldest in the Ivy League and the third oldest civilian engineering program in the country.”

According to Dr. Clyde Briant, NY A ’71, vice president of research and engineering professor, “Having a strong engineering school at Brown will undoubtedly help our faculty and students compete effectively for federal research dollars and contribute to solving challenging problems.”

The University of Missouri Alumni Association Student Board recently announced 39 seniors to the elite Mizzou ’39 class. Read full news release here

Three of the graduating seniors were from the College of Engineering and all three are Tau Beta Pi members. They are:

Anna McLaughlin, MO A 2010, industrial and manufacturing systems major and 2009-10 Tau Beta Pi Scholar.

Matthew Wopata, MO A 2010, majoring in chemical engineering.

Matthias Young, MO A 2010, graduating with degree in chemical engineering and former head chemical engineer for Mizzou Hydrogen Car Team.

The Iowa City Press Citizen reported that University of Iowa senior Alyssa Neiers, IA B 2010, has received a scholarship from the Theta Tau Professional Engineering Fraternity.
