Work being done by chemical engineers at MIT, including Dr. Michael Strano (NY R ’97), is designed to help those with diabetes monitor their blood sugar levels with a tattoo.

The tattoo “uses carbon nanotubes to read and display your blood sugar level on their skin, eliminating the need to prick a finger with a needle.”

Congressman Daniel Lipinski, Ph.D. (IL G ’88) was recently highlighted in Prism Magazine for his work on “scientific innovation and education in the STEM fields.”

Rep. Lipinski chairs the Subcommittee on Research and Science Education of the House Science and Technology Committee. He continues to support increases in the budget for the National Science Foundation.

He also says that, “we need more people with backgrounds in science, engineering -all the STEM fields- in government and politics.”

Raser Technologies has announced the hire of Dave J. Stenson, MI Z ’86, as the new Chief of Operations for Raser’s Transportation Division.

Stenson will lead a new team including Raser’s new Director of Engineering Validation, Build and Test, Joesph R. Katona, MI Z ’78. Both of these new hires most recently worked as executives for General Motors.
