An article byThe Chronicle of Higher Education recently profiled “The Master Scheduler.”
An engineering professor at Georgia Institute of Technology, George L. Nemhauser, Ph.D. (MD A ’58), is “an expert in solving fleet-scheduling problems” and started a company to help sports leagues schedule their games in the 1990s.
According to the article, Sports Scheduling Group “now handles all scheduling for Major League Baseball, and has worked with the Atlantic Coast Conference, Big Ten, Mountain West, and other college leagues.”

As reported in The Dallas Morning News, Lieutenant Colonel James Cline, TX D ’84, has been called to active duty by the Texas Army National Guard to serve in Operation Enduring Freedom.

Cline is currently the president of the Denton County Transportation Authority (TX). He previously worked for Irving. He is a 26-year veteran of the Texas Army National Guard. Read the article here
