This past weekend, a team of Virginia Tech students and faculty won the top prize at the Solar Decathlon Europe.

The competitions is the first European version of the Solar Decathlon that is held every two years on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.

At the University of Minnesota Duluth, the new Swenson Civil Engineering Building is now open for use by faculty and students.

The article, from the Duluth News Tribune, reports that the building has been awarded a gold-level certification for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standards.

The 2010 American Solar Challenge concluded this weekend in Illinois. The University of Michigan team finished first in the solar car competition.

Seventeen teams took part in the 1,200-mile race, which begun on June 20 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Click here for more on the race
