A team of engineers are “exploring using an engineering technique called topology optimization to improve the process” of facial reconstruction surgery. Dr. Glaucio Paulino is the lead on the research team.

Jill S. Tietjen, P.E. (VA A ’76), has been elected to Merrick & Company’s Board of Directors.

She is currently president and CEO of Technically speaking. Tietjen “has over 30 years of experience in the electric utility industry” and received the 2004 Tau Beta Pi Distinguished Alumna Award.

With the intentions of developing “a 90-acre” research park, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University “invited dozens of aerospace industry research and development executives to an aviation summit” this week.

Matthew Ganz (OH G ’81), vice president and general manager of Boeing Research & Technology, was on hand. He said that “approximately 50 percent of Boeing employees will be retirement eligible within the next decade, so we are making sure there’s a strong STEM system.”
