Citybizlist (Baltimore) detailed a recent SEC filing by InstaMed Holdings Inc., an investment vehicle for Philadelphia-based InstaMed.

“InstaMed provides a platform for processing healthcare payments for over 700 hospitals and clinic locations and more than 50,000 providers.”

Chris Seib (CA W ’00), chief technology officer and co-founder at InstMed, was named in the filing. Read the news report

Luke Mackewich, MI E 2010, was recently profiled in The Voice (MI). Not only is Luke completing his final year of graduate studies towards a master’s degree in civil engineering at Wayne State University, but he is also dedicated to “improving drink water systems on American Indian reservations.”

As an intern with the Public Health Services Commissioned Corps this past summer, Luke “worked to improve the drinking water and septic systems on American Indian reservations.” He has also previously assisted a professor on a project related to the efficiency of water delivery for the Detroit Sewer and Water Department. In a recent press release, Stony Brook University announced funding from the National Science Foundation to build a “Reality Deck.”

The deck is actually an “Immersive Giga-pixel Display containing 308 LCD display screens driven by an 85-node graphics computing cluster.” It will be located in Stony Brook University’s Center of Excellence in Wireless and Information Technology (CEWIT).

Yacov Shamash, Ph.D. (WA B ’70), is the vice president of economic development and dean of college of engineering and applied sciences. The plans are for the Reality Deck to be completed within a year.
