The Union of Concerned Scientists have announced a new ad campaign in an effort to “showcase scientists as public servants.”

The Chronicle of Higher Education reported on projects that were awarded grants from Google as part of their “first formal foray into supporting humanities text-mining research.”
Terry Szymanski, MI G ’04, and Steven Abney, from the University of Michigan had their project, “Automatic Identification and Extraction of Structured Linguistic Passages in Texts,” selected.
