TECO Energy Inc. has named John B. Ramil, FL G ’78, as president and chief executive officer.
Ramil was most recently president and chief operation officer at TECO. He has been with TECO for more than 34 years and joined the company as a co-op student while attending the University of South Florida.

The U.S. Department of Energy fellowship program “to strengthen the country’s scientific and engineering work force” has announced the first 150 recipients of grants for graduate students in biology, chemistry, computer science, engineering, environmental science, mathematics, and physics.

In a recent article from Aviation Week, Tom Markusic, OH G ’93, discussed the goal of SpaceX (Space Exploration Technologies) and gave his opinion on the future of space development in the United States.
Markusic, SpaceX McGregor rocket development facility director, would like to see the U.S. government focus on a future mission to Mars by developing a nuclear thermal propulsion system. He would “leave new heavy-lift launchers to commercial entities.”
