Tissue Engineering recently published an article about a new study using “cell-depleted lung as a natural growth matrix for generating new rat lung.”
Members from several universities teamed together on the research. “The authors present evidence of improved cell retention, repopulation of the matrix, and differentiation into the cell types present in healthy lung.” Read more here

The competition is open to university engineering students to submit proposals for evaluation by February 4, 2011. There are four themes for students to choose from for their project.

It is being reported that General Electric Co. (GE) is “studying potential partnerships to give it greater range in the smart grid business.”
John D. McDonald (IN A ’73), director of technical strategy and policy development at GE’s Digital Energy division, told Dow Jones Newswires that, “From our point of view, if it’s something we don’t have completely, we can either develop it or we can partner with somebody.”
