2010 Tau Beta Pi Convention: Guest Speakers

As you may know, Tau Beta Pi is celebrating the Association’s 125th Anniversary this year. The culmination of the celebration will take place at the National Convention in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania.

Several special guest speakers will be present at the Convention to speak to attendees and to commemorate 125 years of Tau Beta Pi. The following is an abbreviated list of events, speakers, and sponsors. For more click here

Thursday evening, October 7, Dr. Lyle D. Feisel, P.E. (Iowa Alpha ’61), will speak at the Welcome Dinner.

Dr. Feisel is dean emeritus of the Watson School of Engineering and Applied Science at the State University of Binghamton, 2002 TBP Distinguished Alumnus, writer of the popular BENT column “Lyle’s Laws,” and was recently named the Interim Executive Director of ASEE.

Friday, October 8, at the Evening Banquet former NASA astronaut Dr. Terry J. Hart, PA A ’68, will be the guest speaker.

Dr. Hart has logged 168 hours in space aboard the Space Shuttle Challenger. He is currently a professor at Lehigh University teaching courses on aircraft design and performance. His talk will focus on the history and future of space flight.

Friday evenings entertainment will include Bill Landry’s one-man play, Einstein the Man.

Bill Landry spent more than 20 years as the host, narrator, and co-producer of “The Heartland Series” on WBIR-TV (NBC) in Knoxville, TN. His play, Einstein the Man, has been adapted for National Public Radio and Public Television, and is based on the life of Albert Einstein.

Saturday, October 9, at the Award Banquet Dr. Alton D. Romig Jr., PA A ’75, will be the keynote speaker.

Dr. Romig is executive vice president, deputy laboratories director, and chief operating officer at Sandia National Laboratories (NM). He directly supports operations with the U.S. Department of Defense, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and Homeland Security, among others.
