Expanding horizons, opportunities, & progress

The Daily Toreador from Texas Tech University recently detailed the opening of the Engineering Opportunities Center for engineering students to have their resumes checked.

In an effort to meet the demand, engineering students were trained “on how to critique students’ resumes” from different engineering majors. Corey Brazenec, TX B 2011, was one of the five student volunteers who was trained.

Sabrina Singh, GA A 2003, is one of two NASA engineers touring Asia giving workshops to young students to “light a spark” in their imagination and interest in math, science, and space exploration.

Their final stop was at the Philippine Science Centrum in Marikina where they demonstrated aerodynamics to more than 50 students. Read the article for full coverage of the event.

Singh is an astronaut trainer, teaching astronauts how to use their spacesuits during spacewalks. She also designs future space-walk activities on the moon.

In a recent article from The Wall Street Journal, the problem of traffic and the “slow process” being made in addressing congestion issues is detailed.

According to the article, congestion is continuing to increase and will not stop as long as the “population and the economy keep growing.” Several engineers and their research on traffic are profiled, but recent tools have had little positive effect on shrinking travel time.
