Increasing numbers of researchers are working on technology to warn drivers about a child left in the back seat of an automobile.

Two engineers from NASA filed a patent on similar technology, in 2001, “after a colleague’s infant died after being left behind in the car.” This article from the USA Today, gives updates on recent research in wake of the deadliest month (August 2010) on record, in which 41 children died in hot cars.

Car companies and advocate groups, such as Kids and Cars, continue to push for reliable technology to be available for all automobiles.
