Tau Beta Pi has received information about several upcoming opportunities. Here is a brief description:
1. Now is the time to nominate your outstanding faculty innovator for the 2011 Olympus Innovation Awards.
Sponsored by the Olympus Corporation and the NCIIA community, the awards recognize faculty whose work exemplifies excellence and innovation in entrepreneurship education. The nomination process now takes just 15 minutes. Find out more at NCIAA.org, deadline for nominations is October 13.
2. The Junior Engineering Technical Society (JETS) is announcing two opportunities to get involved with engineering while making a difference in the lives of others.
Be a part of the annual Teams competition for high school students. This competition gives students a chance to use their math and science skills on a real-world challenge. Also, registration for the National Engineering Design Challenge (NEDC) is now open.
3. Capital Semester in Washington, D.C., program is now accepting applications for the Spring 2011 semester. The program includes an internship and full-time coursework at Georgetown University.
Applications that are received by October 1 receive a 5 percent discount on tuition. Students can be nominated here.
4. The Associations of College Honor Societies (ACHS) has six social responsibility advisor grants available this year. The deadline for applications is October 15.
The goal of the program is to encourage cross-campus collaboration and new initiatives among student organizations. For more, visit the website
5. The first ever USA Science & Engineering Festival is just around the corner. Tau Beta Pi is proud to be an exhibitor at the Expo on the National Mall on October 23 & 24.
